YANBEI – THE SHARKLED ART

　　We are pleased to inform you that on October 15th, 2019, artist Yanbei will be invited to the 14th Curitiba International Biennial of Contemporary Art which is scheduled in Espaço Cultural Renato Russo, Curitiba, Brazil. He will be proposing his exhibition " A Shackled Art" from 15th October 2019 to 23rd February 2020. The paintings that are going to be exhibited in this exhibition symbolized his internal feelings and memories after he moved to Portugal. Yanbei congested all his memories and ideology on canvases, presenting them in an abstract visuality form. This mild connection between impressions and the sense of non-symbolic poetry seems to be pulled and surrounded by a strong force of unspeakable compassion. In this series of new paintings, bold stripes are frequently implied and overlapped readily with opaque plaques and at the bottom composition that is drawn on to the focal point of the painting. These bright and vibrant lines develop fluorescence that formed a structured grid that covers and unite the brightness of the colors to the bottom part of the composition. In the artwork, grids also stimulate a sense of barbed iron fences in combining the light and the darkness structure of the painting.

　　From traditional Chinese art creations to establishing personalized color and shading system, to abstract style painting creations and subsequently to the genre known as the " fingerprint" art creations, modern Chinese artists such as Lin Fengmian, Fu Baoshi, Wu Guanzhong, Zao Wou-Ki have immense influences on Yanbei's artwork by motivate him constantly seeking pristine innovations in his art creations, as well as inspiring him to establish his ambience between western modernism and traditional Chinese art.  Professor Luís U. Afonso of Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon has said, "These works that Yanbei presents now seem to me to be the most complex ones he has produced since he arrived in Portugal. After years and years of trying to understand Western painting, selecting and appropriating the elements that interested him the most, Yanbei has reached a point where he is able to present a new synthesis of his research on Chinese and Western pictorial traditions." In Yanbei's artwork, there are strong resemblances to both traditional Chinese art and western modernism art. The two contrasting art forms integrate into his artwork impeccably. Yanbei correlates his personal life experiences and eastern abstract charisma with highly refined perceptions of art that is able to create a judicious and vivid ambiance. In his vigorous ambiance, western and eastern cultures will form a synchronic existence that resembles a highly refined, with a mixture of cultural affinity and deliverance state of mind. Yanbei's artwork is often permeated with an appropriate sensual plethora that expresses his prospect on the natural laws of the world's vision through assimilating both modern and traditional Chinese art attributes.  

　　To Yanbei, painting is a return to the philosophy of life. Yanbei was born in the family of traditional Chinese medicine in the rural area of Beijing in 1963. He studied traditional Chinese painting with local squires when he was young and entered to the Pinggu Normal School after the Reform and Opening in 1978. Later, he has worked as an art teacher in primary and secondary schools for a few years and then was admitted to the College of Fine Art of Capital Normal University. Yanbei accumulated a wealth of life experience for his artistic career through his rich working experience, from an art teacher to a journalist and professional painter, then later an entrepreneur. Yanbei believes that economic stability is the foundation of art. Sufficient financial capacity engenders a free and open-minded mindset to life and artistic creation.  

第十四届库里蒂巴国际当代艺术双年展邀请展雁北——被束缚的艺术

　　2019年10月15日晚7点，艺术家雁北受第十四届库里蒂巴国际当代艺术双年展组委会邀请将在巴西雷纳托鲁索文化中心（巴西利亚南翼508）举办雁北个展“被束缚的艺术？”，展览并将持续至2020年2月23日。本次展览中呈现的系列作品是他移居葡萄牙之后的感觉和记忆回流。雁北将生命赋予给纸张，以抽象视觉的形式积累了多种想法和记忆，这种与印象非象征性相关联的诗意感，似乎被强大的力量所困住或包围。在这一系列新的绘画作品中，反复出现了大胆的条纹，与底层构图或不透明的斑块自由随机地重叠，甚至逼近画作的中心。这些明亮的色彩线，在某些情况下几乎是荧光的，构成或多或少的规则栅格，覆盖和束缚住色彩明度较低的图层。在画中，网格看上去像是带刺的铁栅栏。尤其是在颜色暗沉的构图中，这种夹带感更为明显。从中国传统绘画艺术创作到后来建立个人风格化的色彩体系，到近抽象画风的创作，再到“指纹”风格艺术创作，雁北在从事艺术创作的探索过程中不断地追求创新。里斯本大学文学院Luís Urbano Afonso教授认为：“雁北在本次展览上呈现的作品是他移居葡萄牙以来创作的最复杂的作品。经过多年的努力去理解西方绘画，选择和调整他最感兴趣的元素，雁北如今已经达到中西方绘画传统研究的新平衡点。”正如影响他极深的中国现代艺术大师林风眠、傅抱石、吴冠中、赵无极等人一样，雁北试图在中国传统绘画和西方现代主义绘画之间建立自己的个人语境。

　　在艺术家雁北的作品中，既有中国传统绘画的的艺术特质，又有西方绘画的风格特点，二者在其作品中融合得恰如其分。雁北将自身生命体验与东方抽象韵味相关联，用高度精炼化的笔墨构造了一个可居可感、生机勃勃的生命场域。在这个场域中，西方文化与东方文化构成了共时性的存在，一种高度精炼化的、充满文化自我救赎意味的、超越具象的心象之景得以形成。他的作品，感性丰盈，却又暗合理性，这是对于世界本质规律的图像化表达，是融入现代文化观念的中国式关怀。对于雁北而言，绘画是一种生命哲学的回归。雁北出生于1963年北京市郊，家族是传统的中医世家。年轻时他与当地乡绅学习中国传统绘画，1978年改革开放之后考入平谷师范学校。后来他做了几年中小学美术老师，而后又考入首都师范大学美术专业。雁北的从业经历为他的艺术生涯积淀了丰富的人生阅历，他曾做过美术老师、记者和专业画家，后来又下海经商。他相信经济是艺术的基础，有了一定的经纪基础才能够以一种自由、开阔、豁达的心态对待艺术和人生。

14ª Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporânea de CuritibaYanbei - Uma Arte Agrilhoada

Temos o prazer de informar que, em 15 de Outubro de 2019, o artista Yanbei será convidado para a 14ª Bienal Internacional de Arte Conemporânea de Curitiba, que está agendada no Espaço Cultural Renato Russo, Curitiba, Brasil. A sua exposição "A Shackled Art" está de 15 de Outubro de 2019 a 23 de Fevereiro de 2020.

　　Esta exposição identifico um segundo sinal do refluxo de sensações supostamente superadas com a mudança para Portugal. A poética associada ao modo impressionista que não é figurativo, com que Yanbei dá vida à superfície do papel, onde se acumulam múltiplas ideias e memórias sob a forma de sensações visuais abstractas, parece estar aprisionada ou sob cerco de forças poderosas. Nesta nova série de pinturas surgem de forma recorrente traços de cores berrantes, que se sobrepõem à livre aleatoriedade das composições subjacentes, ou manchas homogéneas e opacas, que avançam ameaçadoramente para o centro do campo pictórico. Esses traços de cores vivas, nalguns casos quase fluorescentes, criam uma espécie de grelhas, mais ou menos regulares, que cobrem e atam as composições cromáticas do registo inferior. Num ou noutro caso, a grelha quase parece um gradeamento de arame farpado, sobretudo nas composições mais negras, tornando mais evidente essa sensação de aprisionamento. 

　　Das criações de arte tradicionais chinesas ao estabelecimento de um sistema personalizado de cores e sombreamento, às criações de pintura em estilo abstracto e, posteriormente, ao género conhecido como criações de arte "impressões digitais", artistas chineses modernos como Lin Fengmian, Fu Baoshi, Wu Guanzhong, Zao Wou-Ki exerce imensas influências nas obras de arte de Yanbei, motivando-o constantemente a procurar inovações primitivas em suas criações artísticas, além de inspirá-lo a estabelecer seu ambiente entre a modernização ocidental e a arte tradicional chinesa. O professor Luís U. Afonso, da Faculdade de Artes da Universidade de Lisboa, disse: "Em suma, estes trabalhos que Yanbei apresenta agora parecem-me ser os mais complexos que produziu até à data em Portugal. Após anos e anos em que procurou compreender a pintura ocidental, selecionando e apropriando-se dos elementos que mais lhe interessavam, Yanbei chegou a um ponto onde está em condições de apresentar uma nova síntese das suas pesquisas acerca das tradições pictóricas chinesa e ocidental."

　　Nas obras de arte de Yanbei, existem fortes semelhanças entre a arte tradicional chinesa e a arte do modernismo ocidental. As duas formas de arte contrastantes integram-se na sua obra de arte de forma impecável. Yanbei correlaciona suas experiências pessoais de vida e o carisma abstracto oriental com percepções altamente refinadas da arte, capazes de criar um ambiente criterioso e vívido. Em seu ambiente vigoroso, as culturas ocidentais e orientais formarão uma existência sincrónica que se assemelha a um altamente refinado, com uma mistura de afinidade cultural e estado mental de libertação. As obras de arte de Yanbei são frequentemente permeadas por uma pletora sensual apropriada que expressa sua perspectiva sobre as leis da natureza da visão do mundo, assimilando os atributos da arte chinesa moderna e tradicional.

　　Para Yanbei, a pintura é um retorno à filosofia da vida. Yanbei nasceu na família da medicina tradicional chinesa na área rural de Pequim em 1963. Estudou pintura tradicional chinesa com escudeiros locais quando jovem e ingressou na Escola Normal de Pinggu após a Reforma e Abertura em 1978. Mais tarde, ele trabalhou como professor de arte nas escolas primárias e secundárias por alguns anos e depois foi admitido na Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade Normal do Capital. Yanbei acumulou uma riqueza de experiências de vida para sua carreira artística, apesar de sua rica experiência de trabalho, de professor de arte a jornalista e pintor profissional, depois empresário. Yanbei acredita que a estabilidade económica é a base da arte. Capacidade financeira suficiente gera uma mentalidade livre e de mente aberta para a vida e a criação artística.

　　Yanbei, named as Guohui Zhang originally, was born in Pinggu in Beijing. He was graduated from the College of Fine Arts of Capital Normal University in 1988. He has worked as an art teacher, journalist, professional painter… etc. He was an entrepreneur in advertisement and environmental art. He lives in Europe currently and dedicates to artistic creation. 

　　雁北，本名张国辉，字雁北，号壘。北京市平谷人。1988 年毕业于首都师范大学美术系。曾经从事美术教师、记者、职业画家等工作，创办广告公司和环境艺术公司，现旅居欧洲潜心创作。

　　Yanbei, nomeado originalmente como Guohui Zhang, nasceu em Pinggu, em Pequim. Ele se formou na Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade Normal do Capital em 1988. Trabalhou como professor de arte, jornalista, pintor profissional .etc. Ele era um empresário em propaganda e arte ambiental. Actualmente, ele vive na Europa e dedica-se à criação artística.

　　Curitiba Biennial was first introduced to the public in 1993 and is one of the main contemporary art events of the worldwide circuit. This Curitiba Biennial is curated by Tereza de Arruda and Adolfo Montejo Navas, under the theme of Open Borders. 

　　库里蒂巴国际当代艺术双年展创始于1993年，是拉丁美洲乃至世界具有影响力的国际双年展之一。第14届库里蒂巴国际当代艺术双年展总策展人由特蕾莎·德·阿鲁达(Tereza de Arruda)、阿道夫·蒙特何·纳瓦斯(Adolfo Montejo Navas)担任，主题为“开放的边界”。

　　A Bienal de Curitiba foi apresentada ao público em 1993 e é um dos principais eventos de arte contemporânea do circuito mundial. A Bienal de Curitiba é curada por Tereza de Arruda e Adolfo Montejo Navas, sob o tema de Fronteiras Abertas.
